It was Staff 80's Day last week, and there were some radical outfits! Tim was our big winner with his "Def Leppard" 80's look complete with a "boom box." So much fun to be had here at Bentley Commons!
Every Saturday, we do Adult Coloring and Conversation. This past Saturday, residents were working on fall-themed greeting cards.
One of our residents, Joan, was busy making one more lighthouse picture so she would have a gift for both of her grandsons when they visited. Her grandsons brought her an enormous bouquet of flowers! It was a wonderful visit!
Several residents received flowers this weekend. Lots of smiles all around!

GLOBAL HANDWASHING DAY

Bentley Commons at Bedford is hosting an outdoor Halloween Frolic on Saturday, October 24th. There will be a photo area set up for Halloween photo shots. Each child will receive their own bucket and scoop so that they can go around and collect candy. Our new project this week is Fall Leaf Bookmarks made with real fall leaves. They are all so pretty! The challenge is finding the "perfect" leaves to make a gorgeous arrangement on the parchment paper. Each bookmark has a quote about fall at the bottom. We were all thrilled with the way these came out! We will be running this workshop again on Friday.
National Home Care and Hospice Month
During the month of November, we celebrate those who work in home care and hospice. We are grateful for those caregivers that continue to make a difference in our residents’ lives.
SPOTLIGHT ON ISA BEAUCHAMP: Isa Beauchamp has worked at Bentley Commons for 9 years! Her favorite part of her job is interacting with the residents. Isa’s supervisor, Kara, is most impressed with Isa’s willingness to jump in where she is needed. She describes Isa as a real team player.
Outside of work, Isa enjoys spending time with her family.

A grateful family who wishes to remain anonymous donated Dunkin Donuts gift cards to purchase treats for the staff. Awhile back donuts and joe were given out, and we used the remainder of the gift cards to purchase donuts for Halloween which we "disguised" as little monsters. :-). Our staff greatly appreciates the thoughtfulness and generosity of this family. <3
Our newest art project is a Sunflower picture using chalk pastels. Each sunflower is unique and beautiful. We will run this workshop two more times next week so we can work in small groups and stay socially distanced. :-)
Each resident received "Bugs and Kisses" to celebrate Halloween. ;-)
We did some Reverse Trick-or-Treating yesterday to celebrate Halloween! The staff dressed up and paraded around to each apartment to pass out treats to the residents. Lots of laughs and smiles all around!

Christmas Eve Day we went caroling door to door while serving refreshments from our Happy Hour cart. Thank you to Rick, our Director of Environmental Services, for accompanying us and keeping us in tune! Even Santa and Bentley the Elf made an appearance! Happy Holidays!
