Selena Lamar and Michelle Kitlarz, 2 BFM’s, know how much Bernice loves her Budweiser and pizza! Bernice hasn’t been eating very well lately, so they called in pizza for delivery, and sat down with Bernice in the sunroom. Bernice recently turned 100 years young, and on this day received 100 Budweiser’s among many other “100” items. It made Bernice’s day to share a lunch date with these two beautiful souls.

Jenny Kramer, granddaughter of Russell and Rozella Kramer, donated flowers from her job, Florist Distributing Inc. They are a big floral warehouse that distributes all products you see in HyVee grocery stores across the mid-west. They received a large shipment of phalaenopsis orchids in and they ended up not being sold to the stores and were up for grabs! Her uncle, Kevin, had the great idea to bring them to Bickford for all the residents to enjoy. Every resident has their own orchid in their apartment. Thank you Kramers for the thoughtful gift and brightening everyone's day!!

Our residents favorite activity, after bingo of course, is definitely thirsty Thursday. Whether they drink rum and water, wine, a pina colada, or soda they all enjoy socializing with one another and a refreshing beverage.

What do you do when a family calls needing immediate placement? What else? Put it into high gear, send the nurse to assess and start moving furniture! Share and share alike! As a division, we learn to work closely together, and share almost everything - from ideas to furniture, and now a van! When Burlington acquired their new bus this summer, they wanted to share some love and offered their mini van to Macomb! So in true iWILD fashion, Beth and Michelle coordinated their day and delivered the van to a surprised group of deserving residents and caregivers! Yesterday was a big deal for us at Bickford. Back in March 2020 I don’t think anyone could even imagine what the rest of the year had in store for us... I remember the first time we officially shut our doors to family, friends, and all our favorite entertainers. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the first time wearing a mask for a full day of work, thankfully my ears adapted by now! This year has forced us to think outside the box, and pushed us both physically and mentally. We’ve laughed, cried, and sometimes got a little frustrated, but overall this year has made us stronger. Yesterday was such a big day because we’re finally moving forward in this journey of COVID-19. We hope this vaccine means we are one step closer to hugging our families, singing along to LIVE music, and opening our doors once again. ❤️
I always chuckle when I see a new resident move in that has a famous name. Over the years, we have had a Howard Johnson, a Patsy Cline, a Jesse James, a Bob Dylan and many more. I always wonder how their famous name affected them, and if they enjoyed it or if it ever became annoying.
Regardless of these names, or any other names that come through our doors, know that we treat everyone like a celebrity. All of our residents have movie star status, and I think they are all deserving of their name in lights.

The number one thing we tell people as they tour our branch is that Bickford is our residents home. 🏠❤️ We LOVE when our residents hang out in our living room just like they would at their own homes. Nothing like lounging and watching some ESPN after a tasty home cooked lunch!

Rosie the Riveter was first in line today for the vaccine at Bickford of Burlington! I rolled up my sleeve to protect those that I love, but also because I am ready for some normalcy to return. We ALL want our loved ones to be safe and healthy, and it's not selfish to want travel, concerts and gatherings back again.
