The New York Department of Health (NY DOH) has issued visitor guidance for adult care facilities that meet specific benchmarks and are able to develop a plan for outdoor visits. A criteria of the NY DOH guidance is to share a copy of the visitor plan publically. Please refer to Brookdale’s Outdoor Visitor Policy Information for specific visitor guidance for the community once DOH criteria are met.

Jean is still basking in the glory of being congratulated by Brookdale President, Cindy Kent for her artistic achievement!
She wrote her own short biography of where her inspiration came from: "As a youngster, I enjoyed coping pictures and painting them with my watercolors. When in high school my friend and I would sketch figures and design clothing for them. As a young adult, my husband and I enjoyed visiting art museums in New York City and Philadelphia. In New Canaan, CT there are four or five architecturally designed homes by famous artist and architects such as a realtor of twenty-five years I had the privilege to show these homes were designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, Marcel Bruer as well as the well known ‘Glass House’ designed by Philip Johnson. New Canaan, CT has an art show every year and my office also had the privilege to sponsor a local artist at that time. My interest in art has developed over the years and given me much pleasure."

We love the creativity and variety that blossoms in our Brookdale painting class. Every time we find a way to express our own voice and these lovely fall paintings are no exception.
Our resident, Jean has been recognized for her artwork by our regional leadership, Andrea, Sara, and Cindy, the President of Brookdale! Jean's story is that she took a painting class with her husband when she was first married, and when they were selling their first home, they had a tag sale where she sold one of her paintings for 50 cents! Then her journey as an artist picked up again when she moved into Brookdale Ithaca AL 3-1/2 years ago, once she started coming to the monthly painting class with Catherine – That’s over 40 paintings! It’s been such a pleasure to watch her grow in creativity and connection with the fellow artists in our community. Congratulations Jean on your well-deserved recognition!
