Directors at Brookdale Rancho Mirage don't mind getting their hands dirty. Assisted Living Director, Roland G., and Dining Services Director, Roland B., washed cars for associates and residents! Residents were very grateful to have their cars washed as most of their cars haven't been moved in months. There's no job too big or small for our directors.
Happy Birthday, Leah. Leah is our Director of Human Resources. She just celebrated another year of life. Leah has worked at Brookdale for 1 year. She enjoys her family and her dog. Leah is seen walking through the community with the new hire staff. Leah is always smiling and willing to help throughout the community. Brookdale wishes you Happy Birthday and many more years of success.
Aloha from Brookdale Rancho Mirage. We had a drive-thru dinner pick-up along with a refreshing blue Hawaiian drink. Our culinary team made pulled pork sandwiches with pineapple coleslaw. Cars lined up as we served them through their windows. Everyone was dressed in their Luau attire and music could be heard by all. Another great event put on by our Sales Department. Mahalo to everyone who came out and made this event a success.
The colors of the rainbow are spread throughout Brookdale Rancho Mirage. Mrs. Brown sure is a good guesser! There were 1,512 Skittles in this jar and her guess was 1,493. Mrs. Brown loves to eat candy, but she offered to share with her fellow neighbors. She stated she was sharing the colors of the rainbow.
"Caring is essential" was the theme for National Assisted Living Week. At Brookdale, we encourage everyone to spread a word of kindness and to remind associates how important they are to our community. We had an ice cream sundae bar for everyone to enjoy as we said thank you for the caring support they provide. Chef Roland and our Health and Wellness Director Chardonnay scooped ice cream and toppings to associates and residents.
Thank you to Mission Hospice who came to Brookdale and surprised us with delicious fruit ice cream. The ice cream was the perfect treat on these warm afternoons. Residents and associates came out to pick from the variety of fruit flavors. Thank you, Mission for not only serving our residents throughout the valley but for remembering those who care for them.
Roland is our Assisted Living director. He has worked for Brookdale for a little over a year. Roland is a great example of leadership. We celebrated Boss's Day with Olive Garden and a gift for him. At Brookdale Rancho Mirage we practice the four cornerstones of Partnership, Trust, Compassion, and Courage. It starts with a good leader and Mr. Gandy is just that!!!!
We celebrated our Execute Director Dwayne on National Boss's Day. Dwayne has worked at Brookdale for over a year. He oversees our Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. One of Dwayne's favorite places to eat is Juan Pollo in Coachella, so we bought Dwayne a gift and provided lunch from Juan Pollo. He was so surprised and grateful.
Happy Birthday, Mrs. Brown!!!! Mrs. Brown is an active Assisted Living resident. She is very helpful during programming, and she is a great support to the other residents. Mrs. Brown expressed that her favorite candy is Boston Baked Beans. She was really surprised and grateful to receive a 24-box of candy on her birthday. Thank you, Mrs. Brown, for all that you do and enjoy your birthday.
Do you remember this candy? Classic candies are resurfacing at Brookdale Rancho Mirage. During our Discuss and Recall program, we talked about childhood candies. Whatchamacallit was brought in for the residents to try. Many of them had never even heard of it. Each week we plan to try old-time favorites. Let's see what next week brings!!!
Happy Birthday to our residents Marilyn and Bill, who both celebrated their birthdays this week. We love to celebrate birthdays to show how much each resident is loved, and the cake doesn't hurt either. 😉 We have many more birthdays in October so stay tuned.
Fall is here and it's planting season. Garden Club is back on at Brookdale Rancho Mirage. The residents are tending to a beautiful garden with herbs and flowers. They will water and clean the flower bed 3 times a week. The residents can pick mint, sage, and basil to add to their food or drinks. Gardening is a great form of therapy and we are happy to have it as part of our programming.
WHO AM I? This mystery game is still going on at Brookdale Rancho Mirage. Some residents look just like their photo from the past, and some look so different. It's nice to see the reaction on their faces once we reveal who's in the photo.
Happy Veteran's Day!! At Brookdale Rancho Mirage we started our morning off by remembering famous actors and directors that served in the military. We said a prayer and lit candles in the jars that were made by our residents. We had cake from Mission Home health during happy hour while listening to patriotic songs. Thank you to all who have served and to those who still have family members serving our country. We pray for your safe return home.
Brookdale held its Commemoration Event and it was appreciated by associates and residents. Food and gifts were handed out throughout the day. Everyone, please continue to keep your courage and commitment in keeping our residents and associates safe.
Congratulations to Claudia who won our candy corn contest. Residents and associates participated in the guessing game. Claudia guessed 245 and the total count was 261. Next month will have a new jar with different candy.
Halloween costumes range from creative to stylish. It's raining men was a favorite for sure. Thank you all who participated in the costume contest. The winner was Marge who dressed as a Nun. You are never too old or too young for Halloween.
You are what you eat is the old saying. Well, today we are full of basil! Our garden at Brookdale Rancho Mirage is in full bloom. We picked the basil and added it to some cream cheese. We toasted our muffins and spread the cream cheese mixture. The smiles that came from residents and staff were overwhelming. Something as simple as basil added so much flavor. We noticed that the bunnies have been enjoying our mint that is in a separate pot, but at least the bunnies will have fresh minty breath!
