It's a beautiful day to get out and appreciate nature. Maybe even capture a little on film!
We are proud of all our veterans EVERY day here at Brookdale, but exercise class is a little bit cooler with this veteran in it! Moses is 101 years old, a WW2 veteran, and an AVID exerciser. Truly a role model!
Yesterday got WILD! We had a great time cutting loose.
The Texas State Fair has come to Brookdale! We've got a big week of activities and food planned!!! Stay tuned.
Linda is really an example of the full package! Not only is she lovely, but she won that necklace she's sporting by being a big winner playing Vintage Country Name That Tune! Smart and cute!
A very kind flower donation allowed us to get in touch with our floral side, and make some table arrangements this morning! Sweet.
Don't forget to appreciate the little things.
Today we had an Oktoberfest celebration lunch, complete with schnitzel and bienenstich, so it only seemed appropriate to have a German game too. This is Betty playing Schokoladenessen. That's German for "chocolate eating". It's a real game we promise, and you can tell from the name that everyone is a winner.
Only boring people are bored, and we don't have ANY of those around here! Once Mary gets out a puzzle, she can't rest until it's finished. Here's her latest!
For those that didn't know, October 6th is German American Day! We are proud to say that we have strong German pride right here in our community. Ms. Ruth brings the culture with her wherever she goes.
Some people don't even take a break on their 97th birthdays! Mary is one of those people. She's putting some miles on the new stationary bike! Happy birthday Mary! We love you.
Happy Veterans Day! We love and respect ALL of our Vets everyday, but we are making sure they feel extra special today. Here's a great picture of our darling Dub, during his time in Korea shared by his son Steve!
As visitation rules continue to change for all of us in senior living, we thought it might be nice to see November's calendar of scheduled activities to help you plan the best days and times to come to visit your loved ones. Please remember that visits ALWAYS take precedence over calendar events, but just for everyone's information, here it is! We hope to see you soon.
You are never too old for some trick-or-treating! We did a little partying today, complete with costumes, a fortune teller, hot cider, "bobbing" for apples and "taffy pulling". Wish us better luck next year on the taffy! Happy and safe Halloween everybody!
Unusual times call for unusual measures! Moses had some trick-or-treaters this morning. These cats are proof that being socially responsible doesn't have to ruin the fun! We appreciated the cheer on this gloomy day.
This new cornhole set is not just a game but it's an investment in our athletic FUTURE!!! So far Anne is at the top of the leader board after the first afternoon of grueling competition.
As we were looking at our Daily Chronicles for today, we came across this quote from Franklin D. Roosevelt. It feels timely and it gave us a good giggle. We think FDR is reminding us all that when the going gets tough, the tough get going. Well, we are tough around here, so we are hanging on!
Sometimes it seems like things are one step forward and two steps back with the health concerns we face today, but we have to remember how to eat an elephant...ONE BITE AT A TIME! We took a big bite today by getting through our booster round of vaccines here at Brookdale Richland Hills, and that is a wonderful thing to have checked off the list.
We are vaccinated!!!!! When asked if resident Eileen would get the vaccine, she wore this shirt as her response. #BrookdaleHope
It's easy to think about all the things this Christmas might be missing, but here at Brookdale Richland Hills, we are choosing to remember all the things we are thankful for instead. Our eggnog glasses are ABSOLUTELY half full! Love to all those we won't see in person this Christmas. We will get together soon and until then, remember how much we love you and think about you all often!
Hey, kid! You'll shoot your eye out! Everyone who's ever seen a Christmas Story knows Red Rider BB guns are dangerous. HOWEVER, Nerf guns seem appropriate for keeping your sniper skills sharp during the holiday season. We've got some marksmen around here, that's for sure!
Efforts towards COVID-19 prevention have become part of our daily lives, and finally a breakthrough is almost here: vaccines are on the verge of FDA approval. As part of a U.S. government program, Brookdale residents and associates will be among the first group to have access to a COVID-19 vaccine when it’s available. Read on to learn more about Brookdale's next step in aiding prevention. BROOKDALE.COM How Brookdale is Getting Ready for the COVID-19 Vaccine
