While this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s events will be different, they continue to be deeply meaningful. They continue to help raise awareness about the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. They continue to help raise funds that make a difference in the lives of those facing Alzheimer’s. Brookdale Senior Living Inc. continues to be one of the largest corporate supporters of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Such a beautiful day for a joy ride and plane watching! In between take-offs, we learned so many facts about our intercontinental airport! Did you know that IAH is the 47th busiest airport in the world? It has over 43 miles of runways and over 629,308 square feet of windows that get cleaned. Impressive!
During Happy Hour, Rudolf pulled me aside to show me his video collection and I couldn't help but notice these amazing photos in his room! Rudolf was a semi-pro referee until he retired from it when he was 75! Each badge represents a year that he worked in soccer (a few badges are missing) but fun fact: before he became a soccer referee, he was working on a cross Atlantic ship!
Of the young adults with autism that pursue further schooling after high school, 75% to 85% are unemployed after graduation. Octogenarian Beverly Ficon is helping change that through her work with Spectrum Works.

Did you know February 3rd is Feed The Birds Day? Yes! We took advantage of the beautiful weather today and cleaned and refilled all of our bird feeders for our little feathery friends! Fun Fact: The Heights community has 13 bird feeders around the community!
A couple of our rocket enthusiasts watched the historical launch today of SpaceX’s SN9! Despite the mission’s goal resulted in being unsuccessful, one resident reminded us that “it’s only a failure if they don’t learn from it.”
