The residents enjoyed wine and painting with watercolors and acrylics. Fall is in the air! They enjoyed working on fall pumpkins. They didn't get to finish their paintings but will do so in the next painting class.
While this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s events will be different, they continue to be deeply meaningful. They continue to help raise awareness about the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. They continue to help raise funds that make a difference in the lives of those facing Alzheimer’s. This year, thousands of Brookdale associates, residents, and patients are participating in or supporting virtual walks across the country.

Ms. Byrd turned 79 years young today and is enjoying her beautiful flowers that her sister from Houston sent her, as well as getting some FaceTime to say thank you and I love you to her sister Linda. Ms. Byrd will also have another surprise later on today from her daughter and son-in-law. Happy birthday to Ms. Byrd.
The residents enjoyed working on their whimsical thankful tree yesterday to remind us of all the things we have to be thankful for this year. They will use the trees for other holiday seasons throughout the year. This was a fun and much-needed craft.

Ms. Williams celebrated and turned 93 years young yesterday. She is holding her early Christmas and birthday gift that one of our residents made especially for her. Ms. Williams received flowers and cupcakes and lots of birthday greetings.
One of our residents enjoyed an afternoon of heartfelt messages that they made for themselves. It was great to see smiles as each message brought out what they're feeling or wanting to do outside of covid-19.
When Bill and Louise began considering senior living options for Bill's sister, Pam, the availability of the COVID-19 vaccine became a major point of interest for their next steps. Now, after receiving the vaccine and transitioning to her new community, Pam is an official resident of Brookdale Cary.
It was nice to see resident Charlotte play the piano when she thought she had forgotten how to. It’s amazing to see what we remember when we think we have forgotten.
