I would love to have 5 staff and 10 children. I would also love to have lots of supplies. What makes your class unique? The clients and amazing staff. We also have a set of twins in class and a client that is a triplet. What can others learn from your class that helps it run smoothly? New research shows that it often takes three years and visits to multiple different specialists before Black children are diagnosed with autism, denying them a critical opportunity for early intervention when it’s likely to be most effective. Early intervention and access to vital services at the right time is crucial for those with autism. We understand the intervention delay for Black children is and has been a concern. Our mission is to provide access to resources and services for the needs of all children with autism and their families when they're seeking help. #BlackHistoryMonth
"As parents we have always tried to provide the very best services and environment for our son's needs. Because of the structure and programs at Pingree, we feel that we are able to give him the best. We credit his improvements and social gains to the Pingree staff and programs. Unfortunately, women often go undiagnosed because they don’t fit the autism stereotypes and they mask symptoms more than men do, which may negatively impact their quality of life. There is incredible support available, however, without a diagnosis certain women may never receive the treatment they deserve. The Adult Autism Center helps men and women with autism reach their full potential. Meet Megan! Megan is a Behavioral Specialist for our autism elementary class and has been with the Pingree Center for 15 years. Today we want to give her a special shoutout for her amazing work. Our staff at the Pingree Center work hard to help those with autism and their families. Every single child and staff member has been positively impacted by their kindness, hard work, intelligence, and love. We asked Megan what there is to celebrate in her classroom? She explained, "When kids are making great progress. One student is using PECS pictures more to tell us what she needs or is signing to us. Another’s language has increased and is using more words and full sentences. It is pretty amazing to see." Thank you for being an inspiration and for all you do to take care of the children at the Pingree Center. We are so lucky to have such a passionate, fun, dedicated person on our team.
