Good morning. Hope everyone is well.
Over the past several days across the country and right here in Columbia we have seen a very real and emotional reaction to the tragic deaths of George Floyd and Ahmad Arbery, The most recent Black Americans, among countless others who have unjustly lost their lives. What’s happened to these men and women and many others is wrong and reflects a much larger issue of the racism that continues to plague our communities.
I’m sure many of you like me watched the scenes unfolding across many cities in our country and in Columbia this weekend with great sadness and frustration for the social injustices that our country can’t seem to shake. Even after centuries and many generations. It made me incredibly sad for the lives that have been lost, the communities that have suffered, knowing that these are systemic wounds that will take a great amount of work to heal. It’s clear that we as a nation and as Columbians need to do everything in our power to end these Inequities.
Closer to home the Columbia Rehabilitation Clinic's mission has always been to improve the lives of Columbians through high quality physical therapy care. As an organization we’ve always engaged in and believed in equity, diversity and inclusion. We will always continue to stand for what’s right and address what’s wrong. We owe it to those who struggle with these issues each and every day. We owe it to those whose lives were lost. We owe it to each other. Let’s always commit to standing for what’s right and address what’s wrong.
We must have equal justice for all and racism toward anyone must be wiped out.
