We love hearing from patients! Meet Dr. Tondy Baumgartner > http://communitymed.org/find-a-community-provider/providers/baumgartner-tondy
It is with mixed emotions that we say goodbye to Dr. Bill Huval who is retiring today. We are sad to see him go but we understand his desire to be closer to his family in California. Dr. Huval has been the Medical Director of the Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center for the past 3 ½ years. His leadership and medical expertise helped create a patient centered culture that will continue for years to come. In his time at CMC he healed over 500 wounds and helped prevent multiple amputations with the technology of hyperbaric oxygen therapy. He was instrumental in starting the wound center in 2017 where the clinic earned the recognition as a “Center of Excellence” three years in a row! Dr. Huval is a fellowship trained colorectal surgeon and practiced for 16 years in Florida before moving to Montana in 2003. He also practiced in Missoula and Great Falls until he joined the wound center in 2017.
We will miss Dr. Huval’s expertise but also his excellent sense of humor and keen interest in the overall good of his patients! Happy retirement Dr. Huval!

“Snow shoveling is very similar to being at ‘peak exercise’ on a stress test, so it puts a lot of strain on your heart,” he says. “And for someone who isn’t used to actually exercising and being physically fit, it can predispose them to heart attacks.”
Avoid shoveling if you are a high risk population. If you have symptoms of a heart attack, don’t delay care. Our ER and cardiology providers are available and can care for you.

Governor Steve Bullock today announced that over 100 contracted medical staff from across the country are deployed in Montana to assist hospitals with responding to COVID-19 and filling in gaps in healthcare worker shortages due to quarantine or isolation.
Today respiratory therapists and RNs arrived at CMC for orientation. We are grateful for the additional staff so that we may continue to care for for all patients who need healthcare. Thank you!

CMC and LifePoint Health are proudly joining hundreds of hospitals across the country in asking you to #MaskUp. COVID-19 continues to sweep through our community, and we’re fighting hard to keep on providing quality care and keep our patients and employees safe and protected. But we need your help. Wearing a mask is our best defense against the spread of COVID-19 until vaccines are available. If we all do our part and fight together, we’ll get through this. Together. #MaskUp www.EveryMaskUp.com

As COVID-19 cases increase rapidly across the United States, the safest way to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday is at home with the people you live with. Avoid gatherings with family and friends who do not live with you. See CDC’s guidance: https://bit.ly/35hIcti.
"But it's crucial that even if you know that you're somebody who may not get very ill or you don't care about yourself getting ill, it is important that you're protecting the community at large and of course your loved ones, because you may be spreading the virus before you even know you're sick," said Dr. Angela Pallesi
Pandemic or no pandemic, she said, "I want to remind people that we're still here for them."

As parents, we protect our children every day. We make sure they wear bike helmets, put them in car seats and apply sunscreen. One of the best ways to protect our children is to vaccinate. While it might seem scary to think about going to the doctor’s office right now, pediatricians & family medicine doctors are taking steps to make sure office visits are as safe as possible for your family. If you need a pediatric primary care provider, call our 24-7 Referral Line at (406) 327-4170

Today, we honor Dr. Charles DeWitt Watts (1917-2004). The first African American board-certified surgeon in the state of North Carolina, Dr. Watts spent more than half a century breaking barriers to care that have been traditionally placed on Black communities and changing the landscape of care in his state. #BlackHistoryMonth

Gathering virtually or with the people you live with is the safest way to celebrate the Super Bowl this year. Try these ideas for a virtual celebration:
• Wear clothing or decorate your home with your favorite team’s logo or colors.
• Make appetizers or snacks with the people you live with to enjoy while watching the game.
• Start a text group to chat about the game while watching.
If you watch with others, attend an outdoor viewing party where people can sit at least 6 feet apart. More on safer ways to enjoy the game: https://bit.ly/3cqyOHE.
Today, we recognize the contributions of Dr. M. Joycelyn Elders. Dr. Elders overcame poverty and segregation in her formative years to become a physician devoted to pediatric endocrinology and young women’s health and the first Black physician and only the second woman appointed as U.S. Surgeon General. #BlackHistoryMonth
