Happy Wednesday! Our sneak peek is the Marvin and Cynthia Barnes Café!
The café connects to the pub (featured on 9/16), making this entire space a large new addition to our community! The café will feature tasty new menus, fresh bakery items, and wood fired pizzas. There are cozy seating areas and tables with chairs. Both the café and pub open tomorrow for residents to order take-out meals (hopefully dine-in will be in the not-so-distant future).
We are so excited our residents can start enjoying these spaces, even if socially distanced for now! We'll see you next week!
Croasdaile Village Residents celebrates his 70th Anniversary via Zoom with his wife during his stay in the Pavilion. Happy Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Kier!
We couldn't pass up the opportunity to feature Sparks Park on this gorgeous day! 🍁☀️🍂
This outdoor recreation area has plenty of space to play outdoor games or just relax. The walkway goes all the way around and connects to the paved trails by Boles Lake, so its perfect for a nice walk. There are benches along the walking paths for those who like to relax and enjoy the view. For those looking to get some exercise, there are fitness stations around the walkway. The picnic shelter has restrooms and plenty of tables.
We look forward to showing another new space next Wednesday!
This week's sneak peek is the Marvin and Cynthia Barnes Pub!
This area will be open almost all day for either a comfortable seat by the fireplace, the bar counter for a big game, or enjoying a seat at one of the larger tables for games or conversations with friends. Still to come in this area are the TVs that will be installed soon.
During mornings, gourmet coffees and bakery items will be served (if you look closely on the bottom left picture, you can see the coffee machine). During the afternoons and evenings there will be special menus for food and beverages available. We can't wait to open this space, as we know it will be well enjoyed!
We look forward to showing you yet another wonderful new space next Wednesday!
The Betty Fassett Exercise Room is our feature for this week!
The exercise equipment is top-notch and plentiful in this space, where one can exercise with a garden view. Residents can exercise on their own or with the guidance of our Fitness Coordinator. This is another exciting new addition to our community that we know will see many years of enjoyment!
Stay tuned for the next sneak peek! 😄
Happy Wednesday! We are excited to show off some of our existing areas within our community that have been renovated!
You might not recognize this area, but this is the South Entrance, which was known before as the main entrance, to the Village Commons. It has been completely renovated and newly furnished, but the care and compassion from our wonderful Receptionists is still the same!
We can't wait to greet visitors here again one day soon!
Welcome to the sneak peek of the new North Entrance of the Village Commons!
The North Entrance is the brand new entrance to the Village Commons where the Wellness Center is located. Our Resident Services Coordinator is the friendly face you would see at this desk. There are comfortable and spacious seating areas for residents to use before or after events in the Auditorium, or just because. 🙂 While the Auditorium is on the left side of the North Entrance, the Aquatics Center is to the right, and just down the hall is the Exercise Room, Aerobics Room, the Salon, and then the Pub and Café. All of these new areas were featured in previous sneak peeks, so if you haven't seen those yet, I encourage you to look at our previous posts! 😃
This wraps up the sneak peeks of the new Wellness Center, but we have more excitement to show! As some older areas of our community have become new again during our renovations, we will share those weekly on Wednesdays!
This week, we are featuring our brand new Auditorium in the sneak peek!
Since our Auditorium is not set up for close seating to follow social distancing and small group limits, we are doing the sneak peek a little different this week. The bottom picture was the architectural rendering of the Auditorium before it was built, and the top picture is the beautiful new Auditorium today! We thought it might be fun to see the comparison!
Once all the chairs can be placed in the Auditorium, there will be seating for just under 400 people! State of the art equipment, a large stage, and direct connection to dining will allow for an excellent space for concerts, speakers, lectures, meetings, and so much more!
Join us next week to see the new North Entrance that connects all these new spaces we have featured so far!
Instead of our usual Wednesday sneak peek, we want to take this time to honor and wish all Veterans a Happy Veterans Day! We are so thankful for you, your service, and your sacrifices.
We are SO excited to show off this space!
Another favorite area of our community that has been updated (and enlarged!) is the Village Shoppe. The Village Shoppe is operated by wonderful resident volunteers and proceeds benefit the Residents' Association. One can find cards, clothing, scarfs, seasonal items, snacks, and even essential items such as toothpaste, body care, and socks. This wonderful Shoppe provides convenience and enjoyment!
Our wonderful resident Library is another space that has been freshened up!
The renovated Library has cozy new furniture and is inviting and welcoming to all who enter! Residents can enjoy a book here, or take a movie or book home to enjoy.
Stay tuned for next Wednesday!
Starting the week off with some positive words thanks to the Chalk Art Walk from Life Enrichment! This carries all the way around Sparks Park!
It's great to see so much encouragement and love from our staff and residents!
You matter. Love one another. Stomp Covid!
We may have to social distance these days, but that doesn't mean we can't still have fun around the Village! The Watering Hole is one of those ways residents can space out and enjoy time together. Not to mention we all look forward to the refreshing infused water served up by Life Enrichment!
It's Activity Professionals Week!
We are thankful for our Life Enrichment employees every day, but this week is a special time to say an extra thank you for all they do! Each of them brings something special to our community and residents, whether by planning something fun or educational, coordinating a group activity, or one on one help or support. They help make Croasdaile Village a wonderful place to live! From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU Activity Professionals!!! ❤️
Look at this portion of our beautiful city this morning 😍

A snowy morning ❄️
Our community and our residents are so grateful to Duke University Hospital for organizing a vaccine clinic for our residents yesterday. They brought a wonderful team and set up in Fassett Auditorium so that our residents that wanted a COVID-19 vaccine were able to get one without having to venture out. Thank you to Duke and our Executive Director for making this happen for our residents!
Happy Holidays from Croasdaile Village and Prancer!
Thank you to the Durham Garden Center for these beautiful poinsettias plus the many others they donated for our residents!
