Biological Dentistry - by Dr. Matthew Carpenter
"Like poison in our air, chemicals and toxins in our water, genetically modified and chemically treated food, poisons in our dental work can illicit disease. A few illnesses documented in research to be related to toxic dentistry include Hashimoto’s disease, Lupus, Leukemia, Sjogrens disease, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, fibromyalgia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson’s, heart disease, and cancer.
I chose to change my dental practice out of necessity, like most people choose a different path with natural healing – whether it’s diet, supplementation, meditation, chiropractic, biofeedback, neural therapy, acupuncture, prayer, muscle testing, massage – and see it now as a blessing. There are good forces guiding us.
As an Integrative Biologic dentist, there are three basic levels of how I assess the impact of dental procedures and materials on patients – Structural, Microbiological, and Energetic."

NATURAL HEALTH PIONEERS: Biological dentistry, chemical sensitivities, and the story of Annde
by Dr. Matthew Carpenter, DDS, NMD
A number of our patients at Transcend Dental Health come in with other health issues, giving us the opportunity to show them how dental health supports overall health, and vice versa. It also gives us the rare privilege of learning from them, because many of them have had to do their own research and self-education to deal with issues mainstream medical providers couldn’t help them with – or, in many cases, didn’t even acknowledge existed.
One such patient is one of the many grassroots giants in the field of natural medicine, particularly the field of people with chemical sensitivities....

In this study, maternal exposure to higher levels of fluoride during pregnancy was associated with lower IQ scores in children aged 3 to 4 years. These findings indicate the possible need to reduce fluoride intake during pregnancy.
"Children’s IQ was assessed at ages 3 to 4 years using the Wechsler Primary and Preschool Scale of Intelligence-III. Multiple linear regression analyses were used to examine covariate-adjusted associations between each fluoride exposure measure and IQ score...."

Think ancient cultures had terrible teeth? Think again! Turns out the ancient Romans did pretty well for their teeth AND diet! Read on!
"With ready access to the quality dental care enjoyed in our world today, it might be easy to think that ancient cultures must have had terrible teeth and health.
However, such an assumption about the ancient Romans would be quite mistaken. In an interdisciplinary project among Italian archaeologists, computer engineers, anthropologists, radiologists, and orthodontists, research has revealed that the ancient Romans had healthier smiles than we do in modern life today."

“A new study lead by Felipe Andrade, M.D., Ph.D. from the Johns Hopkins University Division of Rheumatology provides new evidence that a bacterium known to cause chronic inflammatory gum infections also triggers the inflammatory autoimmune response also found in the joints of patients with the chronic, joint-destroying autoimmune disease, rheumatoid arthritis (RA). These new findings have important implications for the prevention and treatment of RA.”

The Missing Link That Connects Gum Disease to Inflammatory Diseases
Researchers at the University of Toronto have found the missing link connecting gum disease to inflammatory diseases, and say it’s related to the body’s hyperactive immune response. Their findings, “Periodontal Inflammation Primes the Systemic Innate Immune Response,” were published in the Journal of Dental Research.

Over the past 75 years, health authorities have promoted community water fluoridation to reduce dental caries.
Until recently, however, no studies had examined the safety of fluoride in vulnerable populations, like pregnant women and infants.
This video describes the history of water fluoridation and new research that found fluoride is toxic to the developing brain.
In light of the recent news from the FDA about the safety of fluoride for pregnant women and infants, do check this article and video out.
