After graduating with Highest Honors in Biochemistry from the University of Southern Mississippi (’97), Dr. James Dobbs attended the University of Mississippi’s School of Medicine in Jackson (’98-’02). He fulfilled both Internship and Residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (’02-’05), where he received the Ben Friedman Award given for excellence in teaching by a senior medical resident.
Dr. Dobbs completed his Cardiology Fellowship (’05-’08) at the Henry Ford Hospital, and his Interventional Cardiology Fellowship (’08-’09) was performed at the University of Alabama Hospital. He is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, and Internal Medicine. He has been an active Fellow of the American College of Cardiology since 2011.
Prior to joining Cardiology Specialists of Acadiana, Dr. Dobbs held a staff cardiologist position at Lafayette Heart Clinic followed by Tennessee Valley Cardiovascular Center in Florence, Alabama. He and his wife are excited to return to South Louisiana to raise their three girls.
