Dr. Elizabeth L. Lord is a Board Eligible, fellowship trained Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon. Her practice focuses on the evaluation and treatment of degenerative spine conditions, including lumbar/cervical disc herniations, degenerative disc disease and spinal stenosis. Her areas of interest spinal deformity, degenerative surgery, minimally invasive surgery, spine tumor, and spine trauma.
Dr. Lord was born in Washington, DC and raised in Kenya, Egypt, and New Hampshire. She has a particular interest in cultural competency and welcomes patients from all backgrounds and cultures.
Dr. Lord attended Harvard University for her undergraduate studies in sociology. She pursued health care consulting prior to returning to school for her medical education. She completed a post-baccalaureate premedical program at Georgetown University. She received her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She completed her intern year of orthopaedic surgery at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital. She then spent a year pursuing a research fellowship in spine surgery at University of California, Los Angeles. She completed her orthopaedic residency at UCLA. She then completed a joint neurosurgery and orthopaedic spine surgery fellowship New York University Langone/Hospital for Joint Disease where she received extensive training in complex and revision deformity, minimally invasive surgery, and robotic surgery.
Her research includes bone biology and fusion in animal models, clinical research in biologics, and proximal junctional kyphosis. She has authored basic science and clinical articles in peer-reviewed journals. She has presented her research internationally and nationally.
She is especially interested in medical education, clinical research, and complex surgical problems. Dr. Lord looks forward to working with patients to tailor a treatment plan to each individual's particular diagnosis and needs.
