We’d like to thank everyone for the generous donations and gifts during this difficult time. The residents, associates, and management team truly appreciate your thoughtfulness. To date, we’ve received beautiful flower bouquets, cards, and yummy treats including virtual hug cookies. We are especially excited by the gift of masks – both N95 and homemade. Our Executive Director, Kylie, is wearing one of the donated homemade masks with a colorful floral motif. Mask donations are most welcomed as we are a health care organization and need to ensure the continued safety of the entire Elk River Community. More of these lifesaving and thoughtful items would truly be appreciated. To donate, please call (763) 276-7076 or email us at Kylie@elkriverseniorliving.com. Again, thank you! #ThankYou #StrongerTogether #StaySafe #ElkRiverSeniorLiving

Due to COVID-19, wearing a mask has become the new normal. This is a reminder that face masks are mandatory in all public places and at all programs here at Elk River Senior Living. For a mask to be effective, it must be worn properly. It should comfortably fit over the nose and mouth without slipping. Masks not only ensure your safety but the safety of those around you. Here are other helpful reminders when wearing a face mask: • Wash your hands before putting on your mask. • Put it over your nose and mouth and secure it under your chin. • Don’t put it around your neck, on your chin, or on your forehead. • Don’t touch the mask; if you do, wash your hands or use hand sanitizer. • Be sure to follow all social distancing guidelines and remain at least six feet apart. Taking the necessary safety precautions can help mitigate the virus and keep you safe! #WearAMask #FaceMasks #StaySafe #COVID #SocialDistance #ElkRiverSeniorLiving

At Elk River Senior Living, we pride ourselves on the quality of care we provide to our residents. Feedback from family and loved ones means so much to us. Thank you for the kind words, Dawn. "Caring for and moving aging parents is probably one of the most difficult tasks for a child, or at least it has been for me. So many questions and emotions to consider. Am I doing the right thing? Do mom and dad really need more care? Help, I can't be there all the time as I have a family of my own. Ugh, what do I do? I also felt, man, did I miss out on some educational course along the way about taking care of aging parents because I am NOT prepared for this at all! If I had any idea ahead of time as to the numerous decisions that needed to be made, paperwork to be filed, legal language to understand, and so on, I know I would not have been up to the task -- and all this during COVID! Then along came Deb Bland. From the very first tear-filled call from me wondering, ‘What do I do?’, she enveloped me in the biggest virtual hug she could and walked me through the whole process step by step. In fact, her nickname is ‘Mother Bear,’ which is so true! In my quest to find just the right place for my parents, I contacted many different assisted living facilities and compared everything -- cleanliness, staffing, welcoming, available amenities, location, etc. I found Deb and her team at Elk River Senior Living to be the epitome of home. They are loving, caring, kind, funny, attentive, and every other positive adjective that you can think of. I have absolutely no doubt that my parents are where they should be – at home at Elk River Senior Living. Thank you, Deb and the ERSL team for all you have done, and will continue to do, in loving and caring for my parents. To me, they are one of my most prized, loved, and treasured gifts, and I would not entrust their care to just anyone. With you, though, I am at peace and take great comfort in knowing that you are caring well for them and that they are home. Thank you!" – Dawn Experience firsthand why residents call Elk River Senior Living home. Celebrating Halloween may be a little different this year due to Covid-19 but that doesn’t mean it will be any less fun. Here are some tips on how to celebrate safely, but still have a ghastly good time: • Social distance pumpkin carving – carve your scary squash with friends or family outside at a safe distance • Host a virtual Halloween costume contest via Zoom or Google Hangouts – enter the chatroom if you dare • Decorate your house, apartment, or living space – especially the living room (see what we did there?)👻 From all of us at Elk River Senior Living, have a bootiful Halloween! 💀🎃🍬 #HappyHaunting #IGotARock #Boo #HappyHalloween #ElkRiverSeniorLiving

Daylight Saving Time begins this Sunday. All of us at Elk River Senior Living will “spring forward” and turn our clocks ahead one hour. Did you know: • Arizona and Hawaii don’t participate in DST? • In 1784, Benjamin Franklin was the first to (half-jokingly) suggest regulating clocks with the rising and setting of the sun, to save on candles? • William Willet, a British builder, persuaded Parliament in 1907 to adjust the time in April and September to make better use of available daylight? #DaylightSavingTime #DidYouKnow #DSTTrivia #FunFacts #SpringForward
