What is inpatient rehabilitation? | Encompass Health
We offer inpatient rehabilitation for new amputees.
Often people who have experienced a new limb loss need wound care, diabetes management, pain management and education. They need to return to as high a level of independence as possible while they are working through the prosthetic process.
Our highly skilled amputee team with over 20 years’ experience will assist a new amputee throughout the entire process. Once an individual has obtained their prosthetic they can return to inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation at Encompass Health Valley of the Sun to get to that next level of independence.
Encompass Health Valley of the Sun offers a comprehensive amputee program that helps people get back to their life and achieve their goals. Hear one of our patients talk about her goal of walking independently at her son's college graduation and how her physical therapist is helping her achieve it.
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! We honored our healthcare heroes at Encompass Health Valley of the Sun during National Rehabilitation Awareness Week with a sweet treat.
This week at Valley of the Sun we are celebrating National Rehabilitation Awareness Week by giving back to our community with a blood drive. We partnered with Vitalant and filled 25 slots to donate blood today!
In order to ensure that everyone stayed healthy both before and after the blood drive we offered a hydration station on Monday and Tuesday to all staff, and we had a trail mix bar today for all staff to enjoy! Stay tuned for more fun events and activities this week.

Encompass Health Valley of the Sun capped of National Rehabilitation Awareness Week with a parade on Friday honoring patients and staff for all their hard work. Our specialty teams each created a banner to celebrate their contributions.
We are disease-specific care certified by The Joint Commission in stroke, brain injury and cardiac rehabilitation, and we have specialty teams for amputees, hand hygiene, oncology, diabetes, STOP and falls. These teams and the dedication of our staff is what creates the cohesive, comprehensive care at Encompass Health Valley of the Sun.
Our therapists love to see amputees thrive. When it is safe again to do so, we look forward to hosting running clinics, swim clinics and golf clinics once again, as well as support groups, to ensure ongoing success, support and independence for our patients.

Happy New Year!
Happy holidays from Encompass Health. Wishing you health, happiness and peace this season.
Sunny the Elf had an important message for our employees.
"Some things are important and some things are not. Take care of your future. Get the COVID shot!"
Everyone is keeping an eye out for that sneaky elf of ours, Sunny! Where will he show up next? What will he teach us about patient safety this week?
Speaking of safety, he had two weeks of quarantine and then began popping up around the hospital to teach us all about safety, including toilet transfers, use of a gait belt, wheelchair transfers and more.
