About

Hello, and welcome!
I am Dr. Eric A. Johnson, MD, a Board-Certified Psychiatrist with over 25 years experience serving adults 18 and older.

I’ve called Minnesota home for nearly 20 years, living and working in several small and medium-sized communities until settling in Duluth in 2016.

In 2017, I begin offering dTMS (deep transcranial magnetic stimulation) in my Duluth clinic.

Thank you to The Duluthian for featuring us in their latest addition. You can check out the entire magazine at http://duluthianmagazine.com/julyaugust2020/index.html?r=85 TMS is non-invasive and has a high success rate for depression remission. Depression does not have to be your norm. Remission is just a click, message, or phone call away.
We get a lot of questions regarding, is TMS just a milder form of ECT? And there seems to be some confusion if TMS is just like ECT. This is not the case. Both TMS and ECT can offer relief for people with Treatment-Resistant Depression. BUT, TMS is far less invasive and less risky. In the ECT procedure you are given anesthesia and they use electric currents to induce a seizure. TMS uses a magnetic coil to stimulate the specific part of your brain responsible for your depression. When the treatment is complete, you are free to enjoy the rest of your day. Check out the images for the difference between ECT and TMS. Contact us today for your free intake, or just call with questions. You can also message us through Facebook. Remission is just a click or phone call away.

Can TMS Treat obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)? According to DSM V, OCD occurs in 1.2% of the population. While females are found to be affected at a slightly higher rate than males, males are more likely to develop OCD during childhood. Those with OCD also often battle additional mental health conditions, with three in four having a history of anxiety disorders, and nearly one in two battling depression. Deep TMS has been shown to safely and effectively alleviate the symptoms of OCD, particularly those patients who have not achieved sufficient improvement from traditional treatment options. Duluth TMS has the only non-invasive device, in the area, that is FDA-cleared to treat OCD. This treatment is also safe to combine with other forms of therapy, and does not cause any adverse or long-lasting side effects. Help is just a click or phone call away. Contact us today for your free intake/screening. We looking forward to helping you in relieving your OCD symptoms.
