About Dr. McFarland
Sally McFarland, MD, has been providing expert medical care to the residents of northern Virginia since 1993 and now has a solo practice in Fairfax, Virginia. A board-certified internal medicine physician, Dr. McFarland focuses on prevention and intervention to help her patients stay healthy.
While Dr. McFarland received extensive training and can manage any medical condition, she specializes in treating diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and thyroid disorders. As a physician who takes prevention very seriously, she also works closely with her patients struggling with weight loss, which she finds is a key factor in medical management of chronic conditions. She’s also an expert in advanced aesthetic treatments, including SculpSure® for body contouring and TempSure™ for skin tightening.
Dr. McFarland attended the University of Virginia (UVA) in Charlottesville where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. She then spent a year at UVA working as a research assistant in the department of pharmacology and remained at UVA to earn her medical degree. While completing her degree, Dr. McFarland was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed her residency at Montefiore Medical Center in Pittsburgh.
When she’s not caring for patients, Dr. McFarland enjoys reading, gardening, interior design, and playing the piano.
