A Board Certified dermatologist, Dr. Dwana R. Shabazz offers her services at Renascance Dermatology in Fairfax, Virginia. “Renascance” means rebirth, which reflects Dr. Shabazz’s desire to help every patient experience healthy and revitalized skin that makes them feel confident and beautiful.
She practices general and cosmetic dermatology for adults and children. Dr. Shabazz specializes in skin cancer screenings and skin of color. Procedures offered include fillers, Botox®, Dysport®, chemical peels, Sculptra®, and sclerotherapy.
Dr. Shabazz is active in the local community, participating in outreach programs, community skin cancer screenings, and local conferences. Nationally, she’s presented at several major conferences, contributed to peer-reviewed journals, and the text book, “Dermatology for Skin of Color,” published in 2008.
Dr. Shabazz grew up as part of a military family and calls the Washington, D.C. area home; and home is what inspires her practice. Renascance Dermatology is housed in conjunction with Fair Oaks Podiatry and Sports Medicine, where Dr. Zakee Shabazz is the podiatrist.
She attended Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she received her bachelors of science in biology and pre-medicine and graduated magna cum laude. Dr. Shabazz then returned to the area she loves to obtain her medical degree and masters of public health in community health from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She stayed at George Washington University to complete her internship in internal medicine. She then moved to Los Angeles, California to undergo her dermatology residency at King-Drew/Harbor UCLA Medical Center, serving as chief resident her final year. Shortly after moving back to Virginia, she established Renascance Dermatology.
