Mufaddal M. Gombera, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopy, and the treatment of injuries to the shoulder, hip, and knee. At Fix My Shoulder, Dr. Gombera specializes in shoulder-specific conditions and treatments. A native Houstonian, he is proud to serve patients of varying ages and activity levels in his office that is part of Fondren Orthopedic Group.
As a practicing orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Gombera provides expert care to his patients using the most advanced treatments available today, including minimally invasive techniques to promote faster recovery than open surgery.
Dr. Gombera’s interest in orthopedics and sports medicine was piqued after he tore his ACL on the gridiron playing football for Memorial High School. His education culminated in a prestigious fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopy at Northwestern University in Chicago.
There, his experience focused on the modern treatment of sports-related injuries of the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee, as well as shoulder replacement. In Chicago, he gained invaluable experience working as the assistant team physician to the Northwestern University football team, the Chicago Cubs, and the Chicago Blackhawks.
In 2015, Dr. Gombera joined Texas Orthopedic Hospital and Fondren Orthopedic Group, where he still instructs trainees and fellow surgeons. An active and engaged member of the wider medical community, he currently holds membership in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
Dr. Gombera welcomes all patients with shoulder, hip, or knee pain to his practice at Fondren Orthopedic Group and Texas Orthopedic Hospital, located in the heart of Houston just south of the Texas Medical Center. He consistently provides personalized, specialized care to his patients, always striving to return athletes and “weekend warriors” alike back to active, fulfilling lives.
