George Mason Academy is exploring new paths for students who are determined to finish high school and succeed in life but do not have the luxury of time. Traditional schools may not be applicable to everyone anymore; more so with today’s youth. On that note, the Academy has developed more than 175 life-significant courses specifically created for on-line learning.
The most basic requirement for a student in the Academy is to have a reliable internet connection in order that she or he can begin to participate and learn through class readings and discussions. By freeing the students from a fixed time and place to study, you are giving them the leverage of gaining life’s more valuable experiences by making it possible for each of them to travel or work depending on their situation, rather than having them confined everyday in the four corners of the classroom. As stated once by St. Augustine, “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page”.
