Gladstone Animal Clinic, LLC wants to keep you informed about your pet’s dental health. Periodontal disease (gum disease) is the number one dental disease in dogs and cats. It’s an infection caused by the buildup of soft plaque on the surface of the teeth around the gums. The cause of gum disease is the same in dogs and cats as it is in people. This can cause an infection in the bone surrounding the teeth. Cleaning your pet’s teeth routinely can help with managing gum disease. This can be done by brushing, daily chewing activities, and keeping up to date on dental cleanings with your veterinarian. Signs include: • Bad breath • Bleeding or oral pain in gums • Loss of appetite • Dropping food from mouth while eating For more questions please call us at 816-436-1100

Gladstone Animal Clinic, LLC wants to continue caring for your pet’s safety at home. Medications that we use should NEVER be given to our pets at home unless told by a veterinary professional. Many over the counter drugs can be extremely toxic to pets. You should never leave medication bottles out where pets can reach them (a determined dog can chew through a childproof cap) and pick up any dropped pills immediately. For more questions, please call us at 816-436-1100
