Continuing our New Faculty Series, we are excited to introduce Dustin Hanusch who will now be offering lessons on guitar, bass guitar, & ukulele! "My name is Dustin Hanusch (ha-NISH), and I am a musician, teacher, and producer, based in Franklin Tennessee. I was born in Renton, Washington, raised in San Diego, California, and began my career in Los Angeles, California. I have been studying music in one form or another since I was ten years old and I have been playing the guitar since I was 15 (31 years old as of 2020). I was a percussionist in marching and concert band throughout grade school. I received my first formal guitar instruction at the age of 25 when I studied Classical Guitar performance at Los Angeles Valley College under the tutelage of Dr. Jordan Charnofsky and Dr. Gregory Newton. I currently live in Franklin Tennessee, teaching music, performing throughout the greater Nashville area, and recording and producing music and YouTube videos. I perform live solo guitar for corporate and private events, accompany soloists in performance, and perform music therapy for memory care patients. My debut EP, "Culmination," was released March of 2019 and my debut album, "Positively Lovely," was released May of 2020. It is my mission to enrich people's lives through music, via entertainment and education." Welcome, Dustin! What a beautiful sound! https://m.bugs.co.kr/album/10187304 Sumner Erickson is a native of Austin, Texas. After graduating high school in 1980, he moved to Philadelphia to attend the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music. He entered Curtis in September and the following February auditioned (along with over 100 tuba players from around the world) and won the position of Principal Tubaist of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra under Andre’ Previn. He was still just 18 years old. For the next 23 years he traveled the world with the PSO. He toured China, Russia, Poland, Japan, Australia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Uruguay, Denmark, England, Spain, Puerto Rico, Germany, Greece, Italy, The Netherlands, Switzerland, France and Belgium, returning many times to many of these places to perform concerts. Sumner also shares his vast musical expertise and experience as an educator. Sumner taught at Carnegie Mellon University for over 20 years. Other faculty appointments include Temple University Music Preparatory Division, Duquense University, The University of Texas at San Antonio and the University of Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton, Texas. He can be heard on many recordings with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra as well as the Pittsburgh Symphony Brass. The Brass’ Art of the Fugue by J. S. Bach is a highlight in his catalogue. Also, the entire 24 Melodious Etudes for Tuba book by S. Vasiliev is available featuring Sumner’s solo tuba. In addition to teaching online for our school, Sumner lives and teaches in Texas. He is currently working on his first book about the essentials of how to play and teach music.

We are excited to announce that Sarah Miller has joined our esteemed faculty offering lessons on cello! Sarah Miller is a recent graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music where she obtained her Undergraduate Performance degree, Master’s Performance degree, and a minor in Suzuki Pedagogy. Originally from Long Island, NY, Sarah began studies at the age of four and later trained in the Precollege division at the Manhattan School of Music. As a soloist, Sarah has won first prize in the Tennessee Cello Workshop Competition and in the 2019 “Getting To Carnegie” competition, where she not only had the opportunity to perform in Carnegie Hall, but also won a trip to the US Virgin Islands to give a concert tour. Sarah has also won prizes in the New York Music Competition, the Tuesday Musical Scholarship Competition, the Cleveland Cello Society Concerto Competition, and the Island Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition among others, and has been selected as a semifinalist in the 2018 Ann and Charles Eisemann International Young Artist’s Competition and the 2019 Mondavi Young Artists Competition. Sarah is a contract member with the Akron Symphony Orchestra as the 3rd chair cello, and substitutes with many regional and national orchestras, such as the New World Symphony, the Charleston Symphony, and the Cleveland Playhouse Square Theatre orchestra, among others. Sarah loves to teach and is determined to help children achieve their personal goals with cello, as well as use music as a tool to supplement their academic learning. Student Spotlight Series: Today, the spotlight is on 10 year old Rahul Prasad who is taking both trumpet and vocal lesson at Great Lakes School of Music! Rahul has an innate passion for music and is constantly heard humming songs wherever he goes. He also demonstrates a level of listening beyond his years and can easily identify singers by only listening to a short phrase or two. We cannot wait to see what the future has in store for this fine young student!

She was an American composer was born on a ranch in Hollywood, California and studied piano and composition in Paris with Moritz Moszkowski, and later with Elizabeth Jordan Eichelberger and de Sales.
