Hector Osorio, MD is Board Certified in Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology and Echocardiography, and he practices with Cardiology Clinic of San Antonio as a cardio-hospitalist at Methodist Hospital.
Dr. Osorio had originally planned to become a psychiatrist, but discovered his true passion was in internal medicine and cardiology. “Cardiology is one of the most humbling specialties. There is so much knowledge, so much to learn. It’s a non-stop challenge,” says Dr. Osorio. Still, Dr. Osorio admits, he loves psychiatry and the ability to combine both specialties to meet the unique needs of patients.
He is also very passionate about cardiac imaging, including the most advanced technologies—cardiac MRI and optical coherence tomography (OCT) which provides detailed information about coronary atherosclerosis and the impact of stents on the affected arteries.
Born and raised in Colombia, Dr. Osorio obtained his medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá. He completed his internship at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, DC and his residency at Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Dr. Osorio completed his fellowship in cardiology at Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Prior to joining Cardiology Clinic of San Antonio he practiced at what is now known as Methodist Hospital South.
Dr. Osorio is a member of American College of Cardiology and the Texas Medical Association.
