From my other side, A LETTER FROM A TEACHER.
Some months ago a 5th grade teacher in NYC discovered my recordings and wrote a wonderful letter of appreciation. Since then I have sent her my new recordings. I sent her my latest this past weekend and here is a portion of her return letter. Hug a teacher!
“Thank you so much! Yes, I do need historical fiction.
In NYC, we are starting off the school year on Sept. 16 in remote learning mode for 3 days, then on the 21st, we switch to "blended learning." My class will be divided into two groups and each group will be in-person or remote half the time. Over the course of 2 weeks, each group will be in-person 5 days and remote 5 days.
We have to do "instructional lunch" daily. The kids are not going to the cafeteria, but staying in the classroom during lunch and we are supposed to be teaching. To my mind, lunchtime is a perfect time for read aloud, so my plan is to have read aloud every day. These pre-recorded read alouds are PERFECT because I can play them for the kids in my room and link to them in Google Classroom for the kids at home. That way all the kids are getting the same read alouds, and I don't have to try to remember, "Did group A or B already hear this one?"
The kids will be getting no recess. It's just terrible. I am trying to find walking field trips that we can do outdoors, because: no subways and no buses are allowed. It is going to be a challenging year!”
Just got back from the eye-candy store...

WE LOVE MAKING CUSTOMERS HAPPY.
Hello: 1st let me thank you for your fast shipping and excellent packaging.
Well done!!!
However, regarding my order (Order #67319930-1) I ordered a 'Hard Cover'format version of this book and received a paperback version...why is that? regards, MS
Hi Max, Unfortunately, that is a flaw in our data base. Since we only sell hardbacks - except where a book is only issued in paperback - our database is set permanently to listing a book as hardback. When we upload a paperback we try to make that clear in the description but ABE still sorts it as a hardback. Phil Goodstein's books have never been issued in hardback.
If you are dissatisfied, we will be pleased to refund your purchase and you may keep the book for reference.
Best and sorry for the confusion.
Bob
Hi Bob
I do know that Dr Goodstein's books have not been published in hard back (that I've ever seen) but the chance to get one in HB was VERY tempting.
"If you are dissatisfied, we will be pleased to refund your purchase and you may keep the book for reference." With this one statement you have a customer for life. That my friend IS customer service!!!!!
Kindest regards
MS
A little bit o’ this and a little bit o’ that and pretty soon you have a wonderful week buying.

One of my favorite purchases is something that in 48 years I have never seen. From a recent purchase and with a little loving restoration by Glenn Fukunaga, here are James Madison’s meticulous notes taken over the many months of the Constitutional Convention - still considered today to be one of the most important sources of information on the formation of our constitution and government. This later edition published in 1894.
The perfect gift for the constitutional scholar in your life (don’t we all have one?)
Reasonably priced and reading for wrapping.
