In accordance with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) we strongly encourage patients who have the opportunity to be vaccinated do so prior to becoming pregnant. The currently available Covid-19 vaccine is administered as 2 doses 3-4 weeks apart. A fertility treatment cycle can be initiated as soon as the second dose is given or anytime thereafter. Studies regarding safety of the vaccine in pregnancy are ongoing, and we expect to have more information in the coming months. Other similar vaccines have been shown to be safe when given in pregnancy.
Patients who choose or decline vaccination will be supported in their decision. Regardless of a decision to receive or not receive the vaccine, these conversations provide an opportunity to remind everyone about the importance of other prevention measures such as hand washing, physical distancing, and wearing a mask.
