Some helpful links and information here. City of Salem September 11 at 5:57 PM · BEACHIE CREEK FIRE UPDATE FOR FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2020 Weather forecasts are predicting improving firefighting weather today, with highs in the upper 70s today. Conditions on the west end of the fire have calmed. Air quality remains hazardous due to smoke and is expected to do so through Monday. Salem remains outside the evacuation zones Distance of the fire from Salem city limits, and the topography between the fire and Salem, reduces the likelihood the fire will lead to calls for evacuation in our community. We plan for this, and if needed, would evacuate in geography-based stages for everyone’s safety, including evacuees. Recycling and trash service suspended by Republic Services, transfer station closed Due to unhealthy air conditions, Republic Services has suspended recycling and trash service for today to protect the health of their drivers. Anyone impacted by the service suspension may put out extra bags at no cost on their next service day. Salem Keizer Transfer Station will also be closed today, and will be re-evaluated for Saturday and Sunday on a daily basis. How can I report a family member I believe is missing in Marion County’s evacuation area? Marion County Sheriff’s Office continues to receive questions about people believed missing in the evacuation zones. To report a family member missing, contact county non-emergency dispatch at 503-588-5032. How will I be notified if I need to evacuate? If you haven't signed up yet, you can do so here: https://www.cityofsalem.net/salem-alert. We will not use Community Alert unless we are facing an emergency situation. Households in unincorporated Salem or Marion County can receive emergency notifications, including evacuation notices through the METCOM 9-1-1 Alert System at https://member.everbridge.net/index/892807736721950#/login.
