Irene Koolwijk, MD, MPH is a board-certified Developmental Behavioral Pediatrician, who has an academic appointment as a Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor in Pediatrics at UCLA and Shapiro Family Chair in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics and Cerebral Palsy.
Dr. Koolwijk� s clinical and research interests include ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, academic difficulties, learning disabilities, anxiety and behavioral feeding difficulties. Additionally, she provides consultation for a wide range of other developmental and behavioral concerns.
Dr. Koolwijk has a strong interest in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatric educational training. She took on the program directorship of the Developmental-Behavioral Pediatric Fellowship Program at UCLA in 2016. Additionally, she supports the pediatric residents on their developmental rotation.
Dr. Koolwijk grew up in the Netherlands and did her medical school training at University of Leiden. She then completed her Pediatric Residency Training at the Cleveland Clinic in 2009, and her Developmental-Behavioral fellowship training at Boston Children�s Hospital in 2012, while simultaneously completing an MPH at the Harvard School of Public Health. She focused her fellowship research on describing comorbidities seen in children diagnosed with ADHD, which is a continued topic of interest of hers.
