Dr. Fernandez attended Weill Medical College of Cornell University and during medical school, participated in the prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) -National Institutes of Health (NIH) Research Scholars Program. After graduating, she completed an internship in internal medicine in New York, and residency in adult psychiatry at Stanford University Medical Center.
Dr. Fernandez's clinical interests include treatment resistant depression, mood disorders during pregnancy and postpartum, and neurocognitive disorders. She is board certified in adult psychiatry, certified in electroconvulsive therapy, and is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Her addition to Memorial Hospital's Behavioral Health service expands the offerings to include electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) as an alternative for individuals suffering from mental illness.
