John P. Leone, MD, PhD, FACS is an experienced general surgeon who has been in the Tampa Bay area since 2001. Prior to moving to Florida, Dr. Leone spent two and a half years on staff as assistant professor of surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He is board certified by the American College of Surgeons and a Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Leone is recognized as a diligent and attentive surgeon in the areas of general surgery including complex hernia repair, dialysis access procedures including minimally invasive approaches, complex parathyroid surgery and surgery of the pancreas for benign (non-cancerous) and malignant pancreatic diseases. Furthermore, the scope of his expertise spans into the care of patients with multiple medical problems (such as diabetes, heart failure and kidney failure) in need of less complex surgical procedures such as gallbladder, intestinal or kidney surgery.
