Nicholas A. Coman, M.D., a specialist in neurology, has joined the medical staff at Maury Regional Medical Center. He is associated with the Maury Regional Medical Group Hospital Medicine Program. Dr. Coman received his medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He completed both his internal medicine internship and neurology residency at Washington University School of Medicine, Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Sepsis is a life-threatening medical emergency caused by the body's toxic response to an infection that can lead to tissue damage, organ failure and even death without immediate medical treatment.
TIME is of the essence when it comes to sepsis. Warning signs of sepsis may include one or more of the following:
☑️ TEMPERATURE that is abnormal (either too high or low)
☑️ Signs of an INFECTION
☑️ MENTAL DECLINE, including confusion or being difficult to rouse
☑️ Feeling EXTREMELY ILL with severe discomfort or a feeling of being near death
If you suspect you may have sepsis, call 911 or go to a hospital immediately and say, "I am concerned about sepsis."
According to the Sepsis Alliance, the risk of death from sepsis increases by as much as eight percent for every hour that treatment is delayed. That is why it is so important to seek medical care if you suspect sepsis in yourself or a loved one.

The Maury Regional Health Care Foundation approved funding this summer to purchase 10 ultraviolet (UV) cleaning lights for Maury Regional Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Columbia Fire & Rescue, Tennessee in response to needs precipitated by COVID-19.

This weekend, Maury Regional Medical Center collected 172 pounds of expired and unused prescription medications for disposal during our community drive-through drug take-back event.

In the submitted nomination form, Stanfill's nominator shared how calm, collected and compassionate Stanfill was during an unexpected cesarean section: "Robyn was with me every step of the way. She made me feel oddly calm in a scary situation, [talking] me through what she was doing and [keeping] a close eye on my baby girl. She was able to recognize the danger, calmly evaluate it and keep a new mama and daddy at ease. I can't thank her enough. She is an extraordinary nurse."

Katie is a social worker on the palliative care team at Maury Regional Medical Center. In her role, she works with patients living with chronic conditions: providing emotional support to encourage them, to reassure them, to give them hope.
Each day, Katie prays with COVID-19 inpatients at Maury Regional. She sometimes even cries with them, too. She has held iPads over beds to connect patients with loved ones and offered comforting words on dark days. For some, she has been there as they took their last breath.
"To me, this has been a great honor but also a tremendous responsibility," Katie said. "But I believe God has placed me in this role for a time such as this. Our patients are battling with physical, emotional and spiritual fatigue during their hospitalizations. They need our support, encouragement and hope."
Thank you, Katie, for sharing your story and for all you do for our patients and their family members. We are grateful, always, for the compassion, resilience and skill you and all members of our care team exhibit each day.
