About John David Mullins, MD
John David Mullins, MD, is a board-certified plastic surgeon with more than 40 years of clinical experience. He specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery at his practice on the campus of Piedmont Atlanta Hospital in Atlanta.
Dr. Mullins understands that during the aging process it’s natural for men and women to focus on those areas where change is most apparent — thinning or graying hair, wrinkles, sagging skin, and the changing shape of the body. It can be difficult to imagine that transforming the human architecture is, in fact, possible, and therefore many adults resign themselves to these changes, which can have a negative effect on confidence and self-esteem.
The reality is that human architectural change is possible, and long-lasting transformation is well within reach. Dr. Mullins possesses the specific combination of surgical skill and artistic vision required to sculpt and refine human architecture, enhancing the unique beauty of each individual patient. His artistry not only helps women and men achieve their aesthetic goals, but it also allows them to feel positive and energized about the years to come.
Dr. Mullins earned his medical degree from the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. He then completed an internship at Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, followed by three years of active duty service. Dr. Mullins continued to serve throughout his time in private practice, retiring in 2014 as the Georgia National Guard Chief Medical Officer after 41 years in the United States Air Force.
Upon his return to Atlanta, Dr. Mullins completed residencies in general surgery at Emory University Hospital and Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. Following his residency training, Dr. Mullins completed fellowship training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Dr. Mullins holds certifications as a wound care specialist, a hyperbaric oxygen therapist, and a laser specialist. He’s certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
Past positions include president of the Georgia Society of Plastic Surgery, chief of plastic surgery at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, and guest lecturer at the Emory University School of Medicine. Currently, Dr. Mullins serves as the chairman of the department of surgery at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital as well as chairman of Georgia Surgical Expeditions, a philanthropic surgical team that performs surgery on indigent children in the Philippine Islands.
Dr. Mullins' rich experience in the field of cosmetic surgery, attention to detail, and personalized approach help women and men reach their aesthetic goals and enjoy renewed self-esteem and confidence.
