Hi, I am Joseph Nelson, mindfuljoe, or Joe. Finding a therapist is a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack. How can you really know someone just by the issues they treat, their introduction, and their picture? How can you really know if you have a fit until you have met them and possibly spent a few sessions with them? What you want is a good fit with you. I’d like to tell you a little about me in helping you to find that fit. I have been a therapist for over 30 years, and worked with people in some capacity ten years longer than that. I love this work. It is a rare job to have the honor to sit with people who are honestly seeking self-awareness and who are risking their trust by being open about who they are. So thanks in advance if you risk this trust with me. It’s my belief that good therapy is a combination of a number of forces working in sync. Those are, 1) what we each bring to the session (feelings, thoughts, vulnerability, trust, openness, and honesty), and 2) how we communicate these with each other. Based on this, your goals for therapy are addressed until we both agree the goals have been reached. As you can see, I believe this is a joint process where we both invest our energy so you can get what you want.
