It's been just over a year since the tragic loss of Dr. Lindsey Fruge. We (Dr. Cobbs and Dr. Olson) have had a difficult time deciding what to say since we were not part of the CVH family at that time. But we are part of larger communities today...veterinary medicine, female practice owners, and veterinarian moms! We can tell you from experience that this profession is hard...physically, mentally, emotionally. And taking care of a family on top of that can be draining sometimes. The loss of Lindsey has definitely impacted the CVH family and Crowley community, but also the veterinary profession and mommy community as a whole. There's not a day that goes by here at this clinic that someone doesn't mention her name; her compassion and love for her family, clients, and patients; her smile. She has definitely made a lasting impression on this clinic that even we recognize daily.
This month is National Suicide Prevention month. If you know someone who is struggling, talk to them, get them help. We will have the number up on our sign all month.
Crowley Vet is working incredibly hard to get back up and running!

As of 9pm Thursday night we are still without power at the clinic. We are currently running an A/C unit in the kennels off generator power. Without electricity we cannot fully open on Friday August 28. We will be open from 8-10am and 3-5pm for boarder pickups only. We are so sorry if you had an appointment scheduled and we were unable to get in touch with you. As soon as power is restored we will open for normal operations. Please bare with us during this difficult time.

At this time Lafayette Animal Emergency Clinic has decided to remain open until noon tomorrow and then close for the safety of our staff until Saturday morning at 8am.
If anything changes we will post online!

This is the time to do the following hurricane prep:
- Call your Veterinarian and make sure you have enough meds for 2-3 weeks
- Make sure you have your VACCINE records!!!
- if you pet is behind on vaccines get them in ASAP
- Get your pets food, especially if you are buying a prescription diet.
- Boarding your pet is easier if you have the proper documents.
During Laura many clients could not board or get their pets into hotels due to not having their records.
Get them now, your primary Vet may not be available if a major hurricane hits.

After the recent freeze many people around Acadiana have been cleaning up their gardens. A common plant that people are digging up and removing due to the freeze is Sago Palm.
