Our priority is to support happy, healthy pets every single day, while also protecting the health and safety of our staff, clients, and community. As we continue to monitor the evolving COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation, we want to reassure you that we plan to remain open for business. We know how important it is for you to be able to access healthcare for your pets when you need it. Here are some steps we are taking to ensure the safety of our pet patients and their families: We are working within the CDC’s guidelines to keep our clinic and staff free of the virus. Although there is still much to learn about the transmission of COVID-19, we are confident at this time that our pets are not a source of infection. Lake Grove Veteriary Clinic wants to give a friendly reminder of some potentially dangerous holiday plants for pets, despite how beautiful they may be. 🌿 Mistletoe: Ingestion of small quantities can lead to excessive drooling and digestive upset, while larger quantities can lead to heart rate and rhythm problems (arrhythmias) or neurologic issues. Hang it high and remove the berries to improve safety. 🌿 Lilies: True lilies cause kidney failure in cats — and it’s not just the flower, but also its the pollen and the vase water that are dangerous. 🌿 Poinsettias: While they can cause some mild digestive upset and irritation of the mouth for the cat or dog that nibbles them, they’re not nearly as deadly as you’ve likely read or been lead to believe. 🌿 Holly: Ingestion is known to cause vomiting, diarrhea and depression. 🌿 Christmas Rose: These beautiful plants can cause excessive drooling, lethargy, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
