Under the recent legislation the Oklahoma State House and Senate passed regarding the "reform" to the Oklahoma Workers' Compensation Code: There is no statutory guarantee for an injured worker to receive any compensation for serious permanent disability. Payment for serious disability may occur ONLY IF the injured worker does not return to work. Under this recent legislation, set to go into effect beginning 2014, a worker could lose his arm, leg, or eyesight, return to his job for even a short period of time, and NOT RECEIVE ONE PENNY for the catastrophic loss. This logic will move Oklahoma back 50 years in advocating for the fairness of injured workers.
