Light Work is an artist-run, non-profit photography and digital media center that has supported artists since 1973. Light Work's facility in the Robert B. Menschel Media Center includes multiple galleries and affordable workspace through Light Work Lab. Artists have been creating original art work in our digital imaging and photography facility for almost four decades. Over 350 artists have participated in Light Work's Artist-in-Residence Program by photographing, editing, printing, or otherwise working on their projects. Prints created at Community Darkrooms are hanging in galleries and museums worldwide. Light Work has published Contact Sheet since 1977. It is one of the oldest, continuously published art photography publications in the world. Urban Video Project (UVP) is an important international venue for the public presentation of video and electronic arts. It is one of the few projects in the United States dedicated to continuous and ongoing video art projections. UVP is a multimedia public art initiative of Light Work and Syracuse University along the Connective Corridor in Syracuse, NY.
