A vehicle’s engine-cooling system serves not just to keep the engine cool, but to also keep its temperature warm enough to ensure efficient, clean operation. System components include a radiator to dissipate heat, a fan, or fans to ensure adequate airflow for radiator cooling, a thermostat valve that opens when the desired operating temperature is reached and a water pump (or coolant pump) to circulate coolant through the engine, hoses and other components. Most vehicles now employ an expansion tank that allows the coolant to expand, and exit, the cooling circuit when hot, and to return when the car is turned off and the engine cools. The cooling system also incorporates elements of the cabin’s ventilation system, because engine heat is used to warm the car’s interior. Cars may be created equal, but they don't stay that way. If you start noticing lingering splotches, puddles, or stains in your parking spot or driveway, it’s time to head over to Lucore Automotive as soon as possible. The fluid could be harmless condensation from your air conditioning system, but it could also be something much more serious—engine oil. Engine oil lubricates the pistons in your engine, making sure that they glide smoothly within their housing. Without this lubrication, the pistons can grind against other engine parts, generate intense amounts of heat, and cause your engine to seize and stall, causing permanent damage.
When you stop by Lucore Automotive Services, you may see a logo on a window or the service desk that reads “ASE Certified.” That symbol means at least one of the automotive technicians has been certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). ASE tests and endorses automotive professionals in all major technical areas of repair and service. Each year, about 100,000 technicians take the voluntary certification exam. Those who pass at least one of the exams and satisfy the work experience requirements become ASE certified. The next level is Master Technician status for those who pass a battery of exams and have additional work experience. To keep their certification active, technicians must take the test every five years. All ASE credentials have expiration dates so technicians have to stay up to date on the latest technology and procedures to keep their certifications.

Your vehicle’s Check engine light is your car’s way of telling you there is something that needs repaired. Bring your car to Lucore Automotive Services to have your “Service Engine Soon” or Check Engine Light diagnosed and repaired. We use State of the art equipment to get your car or truck fixed right the first time. Ignoring a service light can cause more expensive repairs. If your engine light is on, get it fixed. Being proactive will cost you less money in the long term. Most Service engine lights come on due to emissions related problems. These faults can cause a poor running engine resulting in poor performance and reduced fuel efficiency. A rough running engine with the service engine soon light on is often due to an engine misfire. Prolonged use of the vehicle with this condition often will result in damaging exhaust components such as the catalytic converter…. Get that light fixed before there are bigger and more expensive repairs needed.

Drive belts are essential for keeping your vehicle’s electrical (alternator), engine cooling (water pump), and air-conditioning systems running. Having them inspected periodically and replaced when necessary means you’re less likely to experience a broken belt and the resulting vehicle breakdown. If your belts are showing visible signs of wear and tear, or your vehicle is not performing like it should, head on into Lucore Automotive Services to get it back on track.
Though many spark plugs are designed to last 100,000 miles, they can still get dirty or fail prematurely. Ignition wires lose insulating ability over time, and the connection to the plug or ignition coil can degrade as well. Having your service technician regularly inspect your ignition system can help you avoid conditions that may result in poor performance or reduced fuel economy. Your air conditioning system is part of your HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) system and one of the key components in your vehicle’s comfort-control center. When your air conditioning is not functioning properly, driving can be miserable and, in some cases, even dangerous. All modern cars have a heater, and most have an air conditioner. These components help maintain safe and comfortable driving conditions, including visibility. HVAC System The HVAC System provides proper in-vehicle climate conditions. It de-humidifies the vehicle interior (and helps to clear fogged windshields). You must seal and contain refrigerant, lubricant, and coolant. Symptoms of a malfunctioning HVAC System: -Improper vent air temperature -Low or no vent airflow -Smell or fogging of the windshield during defroster operation -Growling/grinding or squealing noise during A/C or heater operation -Overheating If you're experiencing any of these issues, give us a call to get your heater working to its full potential! 614-873-4470

Your vehicle's cooling system helps cool down important components in the engine bay that heat during operation. If you do not have your vehicle's cooling system serviced on a regular basis, you run the risk of overheating your engine or having a vehicle that won’t start at all due to frozen engine fluids. A vehicle with a properly working cooling system will circulate coolant throughout the radiator and engine. This will reduce the vehicle's engine temperature to protect it from damage caused by heat. If the cooling system does not function properly, critical engine parts can fail. At-risk parts include gaskets, heads, or worse, a complete failure. Avoid an expensive auto cooling system repair by performing regularly scheduled maintenance to stop problems before they happen.

The chassis is the underpart of your vehicle. It's the bottom framework upon which the body sits. It's also responsible for housing the engine, differential, driveshaft, suspension system, and transmission. Due to the proximity of the chassis to the road and ground, it's a greater risk for rust damage. The parts and systems it houses can also cause problems with vehicle performance and handling if they are damaged or worn from time and regular use. Lucore Automotive Services specializes in chassis work. Our team understands all parts and systems involved with the chassis and is available to diagnose and repair problems. What are the Benefits of cleaning and balancing your injectors? It obviously will depend on the condition of the injectors prior to the cleaning. Older more “clogged” injectors will notice a much larger improvement over injectors that have less accumulation of deposits. No matter the starting condition of the injectors, an increase in performance and fuel economy will pay for the cleaning in a matter of no time. Most high-mileage engines and engines that are used mostly for short trip stop-and-go driving are the most likely prospects for injector cleaning. High performance applications are even more important to maintain and keep in balance. We recommend cleaning the injectors every 25,000 to 30,000 miles to keep them flowing at peak efficiency.
Here’s a no-brainer: hitting a pothole can damage your vehicle. Big time. The thing is, pothole damage is an everyday road hazard and a tricky one at that, since potholes’ presence may not be obvious. That is until the deed is done. If your vehicle hits a deep, dreaded divot in the road, steering system misalignment to a full-on tire puncture or bent rims may follow. But whether the damage is obvious or not, the problem needs reversing. And sooner, not later. We're here to help. 614-873-4470

Your engine requires a specific temperature range for optimal performance. Coolant fluid is the working lubricant for your vehicle’s radiator system. Coolant is infused with additives that prevent boiling, freezing and corrosion. Think of your radiator fluid as a warm blanket in the winter and a cool fan in the summer. If your coolant is low, your cooling system could have a leak. You may be able to see the leak under your vehicle; you may also be able to smell it as well. If you notice these signs, have your coolant system inspected as soon as possible. Taking care of this one little thing could save you thousands in repairs.
