Join us in bringing awareness to World Glaucoma Week taking place this week from March 7-13, 2021. This week is an effort by the World Glaucoma Association (WGA) to raise awareness about glaucoma. Glaucoma is an asymptomatic eye disease which if untreated can eventually lead to blindness. In fact, glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide. Treatments including eyedrops, lasers, and surgery are available to help slow the progression of glaucoma, and for many patients can prevent blindness. The key to treatment success is early diagnosis. The diagnosis of glaucoma can often be made with a simple eye examination. Patients with age greater than 60 years , African American race, or family history can be at higher risk of developing glaucoma. Let’s join the world initiative to raise awareness about glaucoma. Remind your family, friends, and YOURSELF to schedule an eye examination today! #worldglaucomaweek #glaucomaawareness #glaucoma #eyecare #eyehealth
