Originally a terminal for early 20th Century passenger ships, this area is yet another marvel of modern Manhattan development. Chelsea Piers is famous these days for the massive sports and recreation complex that bears its name. This place offers everything from ice skating to rock climbing to a flying trapeze – remember when Carrie Bradshaw tried that? A marina provides harbor for privately owned ships. Fun fact: the Piers also houses the production offices for “Law & Order: SVU” (dun dun!).
