One could say Mark Thompson, MD�s career choice was meant to be: He is a fourth-generation doctor in our community. After graduating from high school, he couldn�t wait to start working in the field. In fact, the day after he received his diploma, he eagerly took a job as an orderly in the operating room at Memorial Hospital. Today, his life and his passion for medicine have come full circle: Dr. Thompson is a board-certified general surgeon, leading highly skilled surgical teams to perform lifesaving and life-changing surgeries. �I really enjoy taking care of people,� Dr. Thompson said. �My goal is for patients to feel comfortable and confident in their care. I�d like for patients to know that their best interest is all that matters to me.� �At Beacon, the ability to collaborate with our surgical care team is outstanding,� he said. �We have a unified focus so the patient has everything he or she needs for an optimal outcome.� Outside of work, Dr. Thompson loves to be active playing sports, enjoys traveling, experiencing different cultures and sampling delicious cuisine.
