About

Mary Washington Healthcare holds the safety of our Associates, patients, and visitors as a top priority. We are closely following information and recommendations from the CDC and the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) to stay current on confirmed cases and ensure we offer the best care to the people we serve.

If you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, call your primary care provider. We currently have three testing centers but testing does require a physician order and a scheduled appointment. For questions about your health and if you are unsure if you need to be tested, call our Health Link Nurse Line at 540-741-1100 for an assessment.

Congratulations to Catherine McFarlane, BSN, RN, Mary Washington Hospital's DAISY Award winner from April. She was nominated by four of her fellow nurses! Here's just a few of the great things they had to say about her: "Cathy is an amazing nurse. Her patients know that they are in good hands. She is also a great co-worker in making sure her peers are appreciated and recognized." "Cathy is so helpful and upbeat! I love working with her and as a new nurse looking up to her." "Cathy shows nothing but love and teamwork to staff and co-workers. She is always lending a helping hand when needed. Always shows the utmost care for patients and provides a family like environment in the workplace. She always checks up on us and makes sure all of her staff is okay and rested." Cathy sounds like the kind of nurse you not only want at your bedside as a patient, but by your side as a co-worker! Cathy, thank you for all you do! #MWHCproud #DAISYaward #DAISY #nurselife

After BSA Troop 907G committee members learned about Mary Washington Healthcare’s participation in The Jared Box Project, 8 members of the troop decided to assemble Jared Boxes for their service project. The troop used financial donations they had received from their popcorn fundraiser to purchase boxes and the items to fill each box. The girls then used stickers to decorate the boxes and included a “get well” card for the recipient. The parents of the girls noted how impressed they were by the enthusiasm of the scouts as they put the boxes together. A few members from the troop brought their 14 Jared Boxes to the Stafford Hospital Emergency Department, where they will be used to help ease the anxiety of pediatric patients that come to the hospital. Thank you, Troop 907G!
It’s Pharmacy Week and we want to give a big shout out to our team of more than 60 pharmacists and pharmacy technicians at Mary Washington and Stafford Hospitals. This hardworking team not only provides medication for inpatients in both hospitals, they also distribute medications to other locations in the area, to include many EMS squad medication boxes in the City of Fredericksburg and surrounding counties. In September alone, medications dispensed from our many AcuDose machines totaled 203,498 at MWH and 33,341 at SH. Per year, the pharmacy dispenses over 1.9 million doses! Pharmacists are available to assist with any medication education needs, assist our nursing and physician partners with top notch pharmaceutical recommendations and care, and make sure medication safety is always our number one priority. #MWHCproud #PharmacyWeek #NationalPharmacyWeek

We are excited to share the story of this special family. Chris and Lauren, along with their five year old son Wyatt, traveled from Alaska to the east coast to visit family just before the holidays last year. Lauren, at 26 weeks pregnant, had no complications with her pregnancy and was cleared to travel. What was planned to be a week's vacation turned into a three month stay as Lauren was diagnosed with placenta accreta, resulting in Sebastian being born at 29 weeks. And that was just the start. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aESnP5g1nc4&feature=emb_logo YOUTUBE.COM A Delivery Far From Home: Lauren and Sebastian’s Story
