We have learned this year that our easy to grow Heart to Heart Caladiums create beautiful landscapes and container gardens--but they often work well as indoor plants too, given enough light. The caladiums shown in this video are:

Wouldn't it be great to have fresh flowers from your garden in the winter? Try "forcing" some! Many spring-blooming shrubs and trees have flower buds by this time and are ready to burst open when brought inside. Just cut a few branches with swelling buds, pop them in some water (change it weekly), and wait! The timing can range from 1-3 weeks on average, but it's a fun show to watch.
Great shrubs for forcing at this time of the year - azaleas, rhododendrons, quince, magnolias, serviceberries, and forsythia
Shrubs to force in early March - spirea, redbud, and deutzia

Pruning can be daunting, but there are a few shrubs that you can count on pruning every year. Here are a few you'll prune in early spring, just as they're budding out:
Butterfly bushes
Panicle hydrangea
Smooth hydrangea
