Happy marvelous case Monday! We recently were lucky enough to make Tato's acquaintance for an annual exam.๐ป We noticed some dental issues- believe it or not he was born with two extra teeth, being a rare gem indeed as that doesn't happen very often! Unfortunately our and their mouths only fit a set number of chompers so the extra ones were causing a ruckus: gingivitis, mouth pain, pressure on the other teeth roots which can compromise them.๐ And you bet ya, he didn't show any of his pain or mouth issue symptoms to his owner at home. We extracted the offending pegs for comfort and to save the rest of the teeth. ๐ He did fantastic for his anesthesia, his procedure went without a hitch and he's doing great at home. #poweroftheexam #petslieaboutpain

Meet Charlie!! She is a beautiful long haired double pawed (on all 4 paws) black and white female cat. She is 12.5 years young and was surrendered to our rescue when her owner passed away. We promised the ownerโs family we would find her the perfect home.
When we took Charlie into our care, we noted that she had severe matts all over her and her nails were so long they were growing into her paw pads ๐ข.
We were able to get her into the groomer Fancyfeet Petgrooming this week for a spa day. She looks and feels so much better!!
We also got her into our vet Mount Carmel Veterinary Hospital for an exam, vaccinations, FeLV/FIV test (she is negative), microchip, and senior bloodwork and urinalysis (everything can back within normal limits). We will be posting her soon for adoption. Her adoption donation will be $100.

Happy marvelous case Monday! 6 weeks ago, Luna arrived midday barely alive.๐ฟ Although 100% preventable, she had a few kittens stuck in her for HOURS along with a few starving who had already been born the day prior. ๐She was septic and close to expiring, and her kittens were weak and sickly. We made some calls to open up our schedule enough to fit in an emergency C- section and got to work that afternoon. She survived surgery and although she had some MAJOR health issues to overcome, not all of her kittens made it, and they are not still out of the woods- they are getting stronger each and every day. ๐ช๐คโค Thank you Paws 4 Life to always trying to save the innocents. #spayandneuter #adoptdontshop

Happy marvelous case Monday. This kitty was "given" to Paws4Life Rescue with only the description of "sick for a week" but sadly, it was worse than expected. ๐ฟ She was feverish, dehydrated, lifeless, and without an appetite. We started the basics of support and resuscitation while we tried to piece her story together by a battery of diagnostics. No great clues were gathered about cause but c'est la vie in the medical field.๐ Since her organs checked out ok but she still wasn't eating at all, we were left with a tough decision- sedate her to put a feeding tube in knowing the very real possibility she might not survive the procedure?๐ฒ The kitty gods so far are smiling upon her because we are happy to report she did well for quick anesthesia, she's starting to regain strength including showing us her spunky personality while she gets her treatments. ๐ We are pulling for the little missy and she certainly earned a fantastic furever home after this life fiasco. ๐ค๐ #adoptdontshop

Happy Sunday Save a Shelter Pet. Check MEOWT! ๐Ringy was one of the 15 hoarding cats we initially examined a few weeks ago. Typical of living in a cramped undersocialized housing situation, this poor girl was flighty and insecure. ๐ฟBut the silver lining of taking care of her skin conditions six times a day is she learned we aren't all that bad. ๐ She looks for pets and belly rubs every time now that her timer goes off. ๐นShe's got quite the personality and we hope she gets the loving and stress free final home that she deserves.๐ค๐ #adoptdontshop #stophoarders

Poor little Captain Sparrow had a deep corneal ulcer AND the eye was out of the socket by the time he reached us.๐ฟ Unfortunately, the injury was too old and too severe to save the eye but he did well for eye removal surgery. ๐๐ Laura is fostering him and she says he was feeling better after surgery than before- bouncing around and refusing his cool facial treatments! Paws4life Rescue brought this kitty in for a look at his mangled leg that someone saw for months as a stray. We gladly welcomed the poor little lost soul, gave a once over to ensure no injuries and made room at the inn. ๐ Sadly, the kitty isn't microchipped but currently is safe, warm and fed. ๐We are positive this pet wants to be reunited with the rightful owners. ๐ Please call us if you have any leads. #microchipyourpet

Happy Save a Shelter Pet Sunday! Tinkerbelle was adopted ๐ค๐ป so we offered to take Fluffy in- she's a special girl to us. We met her as a very sick kitty with barely having any spark left. ๐ After a few tests, a feeding tube was placed to support her through her liver infection. She did amazing, sometimes too well and removing her own tube several times!๐คฆโโ๏ธ She continued to thrive so after a few weeks she was tried on oral food which slowly but surely, she healed. ๐๐ค It's been months since her fantastic recovery so now we are on the mission of finding her a suitable home. Happy Save a Shelter Pet Sunday! This good lookin fella was found in the road and presumed injured. But thankfully he wasn't so he was brought to us once his holding period was finished (no one claimed him, no microchip either๐ญ๐ญ). We got him up to date with vaccines, deworming, blood testing, neutered and most importantly gave him an appropriate name (since the first was hideous), along with reaching out for a rescue with vacancy. Happy marvelous case Monday! Chip came in for an annual but had some off putting breath. ๐ตWe diagnosed stage 2 of 4 periodontal disease and he returned for a dental cleaning the following week. He did great for his procredure and was back to eating that night like nothing happened. ๐ป Chip's mouth is happier clean and smelling fresh, Mom is happy about the discounted dental procedure and we are happy to have rid one more infected mouth. ๐ค #februrarydentalmonth ๐ #savetheteeth

There was lots of inbreeding leading to bone and leg deformities among other typical sad consequences of overpopulation....just terrible.๐ But this pretty girl was lucky enough to only have a few extra toes without any detrimental deformities or walking issues. We met him when his owner could not longer care for him and his "siblings". ๐ He was a sweetie during his exam and getting him up to date for adoption, which isn't always the case with kitties at the hospital! We found a heart murmur and Paws4Life was supportive of our requests to further work up so we continued to dig for more pieces of the puzzle. Although he was diagnosed with unfortunate heart disease (likely born with), he's been doing great since the news and takes his daily meds like a ๐. Happy marvelous case Monday! Heartworm contagious season is every season (thanks to weather changes). This patient is receiving a heartworm treatment injection. ๐ She was a champ and took it well since they can be majorly uncomfortable (think Moderna COVID #2 vaccine yuckiness but worse๐คข)! We caught Waffles' heartworm infection while rechecking her blood after her southern adoption. Although sad news to deliver, we were relieved we caught it early so she can have the best odds possible. ๐ค๐ผ๐ค๐ผ #justtakesonebite
