None of the doctors identified the problem but they dismissed our concerns as reflux. I kept pushing for answers until finally a SLP realized our baby had ties. My baby had a history of frequent choking or near choking episodes since birth. Every bottle of breastmilk we gave her always had us on the edge of our seats because of her choking issues. I had to pump breastmilk for 14 months because she couldn’t latch properly to obtain adequate milk. She couldn’t eat any food without gagging, vomiting, spitting out, and eventually refusing to eat. She didn’t sleep well at all, and I could barely put her down or step away due to “colic-like” fussiness. Dr. George Lin discovered she indeed had severe Class 4 posterior tongue and lip ties. I wish we had been diagnosed sooner so that we could’ve avoided all the issues we’ve experienced for the last 14 months. Once the frenectomies were done, we noticed immediate improvements in all the issues we did have before! Her speech was even more clear. We have continued going to feeding therapy for 3 weeks now with an SLP certified in Orofacial Myology, and now our Daughter can eat table foods and drink liquids without issues!
