I love this analogy! You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere. Why did you spill the coffee? "Because someone bumped into me!!!" Wrong answer. You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup. Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea. *Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.* Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled. *So we have to ask ourselves... “what's in my cup?"* When life gets tough, what spills over? Joy, gratefulness, peace and humility? Anger, bitterness, harsh words and reactions? Life provides the cup, YOU choose how to fill it. Today let's work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation; and kindness, gentleness and love for others. Thursday thoughts 😀 How much time do you spend thinking about the past and the future? 50-50, 25-75? The real question is what are your thoughts when thinking about the past? Are you happy, sad, angry or status quo. What are your thoughts when thinking about the future? Personally, I have transitioned my thoughts extremely. 5 years ago, I was looking for a place to live as an empty nester, not sure of my future and still upset with the grueling process of a nasty divorce. Currently, my future has purpose again. I am helping so many people master their body's health through yoga and healthy eating. I am continually thinking of my future with a smile. How is YOUR balance? Trust me, when I say, my balancing is not always great. I have good days, bad days, and days one side is better than the other. Balancing poses in yoga helps us with focus, finding our center of gravity, and strengthening our muscles. When you are able to balance, even as simple as lifting one leg a little off the floor, your mind becomes quiet and you focus on the issue at hand, not falling. Balancing takes practice, but like yoga in general, you will get better and stronger every week. The biggest issue is keeping the negative or disappointment out of your mind when you are unable to hold a position.
