What makes jumping rope a great form of exercise?
Jumping rope is awesome cardio. Within the first minute or two of jumping rope, you will start to break a sweat and feel your heart rate raise.
It also requires a good deal of concentration which improves coordination and makes the time go by faster.
By regularly incorporating jumping rope into your exercise regimen, you will increase the strength in your entire body but especially in your feet and ankles. This can translated into decreased ankle and foot injuries.
It’s a good alternative to running that you can do at home or when traveling. If you are looking for a way to get your cardio in without having to leave your home, try jumping rope.
You can get a good sweat in in a small amount of time - even just 10 minutes is sufficient for a great cardio session.
Interested in jumping rope? Make sure to check in with your doctor or personal trainer for advice! Don’t have a trainer yet? Click the link in our bio to set up your free fitness assessment and meet one of our awesome trainers!

Aerobic energy pathway.
All of our previous Metcon Mondays so far have been training the anaerobic energy pathway. We’re going to switch gears for the next few weeks, training the aerobic pathway wherein the body will use more oxygen to get through the workout.
EMOM stands for Every Minute On The Minute. For our purposes here, when you start the clock you’ll perform 20 KB swings. Whenever you finish, you’ll have the remainder of that minute to rest (for this workout, 20-30 seconds of rest is ideal). Once minute 2 rolls around, you’ll complete 15 KB goblet squats, then have the remainder of that minute to rest, then perform the KB isometric hold with your right arm, so on and so forth. You’ll cycle through these four exercises 5x within the 20 minutes. If you don’t have a kettlebell, a dumbbell works.
For an aerobic stimulus we want to think manageable pace that gets the heart rate up, but without red-lining. Consider that when choosing your weights and if you need to adjust the reps to finish within the minute and get those 20-30 seconds of rest, feel free.
If you need further clarity, don’t hesitate to ask in the comments or reach out in our DMs!👇

Each honoree will receive a gift package in partnership with at least one Brooklyn small business. This month's recipients are getting two amazing-smelling candles from Park Slope’s own Virgins On Fire Candle Co., a bottle of vino from Good Wine on 5th Ave., and a $50 donation to their charity of choice, Good Sports.
Nora & Vishal’s trainer Ryan says: "Whether it be Zoom or outdoor training, this newly engaged couple have been about as consistent as it gets, prioritizing their training sessions during this past year. In a complicated pandemic year, that's mighty impressive. And shoutout to their multi-device, multi-angle Zooms!"
We love it. Congrats to this Pongo Power Couple! We can't wait to feature more of you in the coming months!👏👏👏
