Dr. Richard A. Brezing has been in practice in the Fort Lauderdale area since 1984. He is the president and founder of South Florida Cardiovascular Surgical Associates. He is board-certified in cardiac and thoracic surgery and has extensive experience in that area since his completion of training. He has special interests in coronary artery bypass surgery and performs both on- and-off-pump surgeries. He has extensive experience in this area, especially in dealing with elderly patients. He is also very interested in the treatment of lung cancer and has a special interest in performing surgery in this area. He routinely works with oncologists to many times resect lesions after they have been pre-treated with chemotherapy.
Dr. Brezing is originally from Niagara Falls, New York. He completed medical school training at New York Medical College in New York City and went to a general surgical training program at St. Luke`s Hospital in New York from 1975 to 1981. He did his cardiothoracic training at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and was involved in the program during the first artificial heart on Barney Clark. He also participated in a one-year fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery in St. Luke`s Roosevelt Hospital in New York City.
He has been married for 20 years to his wife Norma, and they have four children: Christina, Andrea, Amanda, and Julia. In his free time, Dr. Brezing enjoys spending time with his family. His hobbies include cycling and skiing, as well as raising reptiles. His favorite spectator sport is football, and he has a special attachment to the Buffalo Bills.
