Please join us on Monday at noon via Zoom when we hear from Kilty Brown and Susan Burke of Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions. (Guests or visitors wishing to join our Zoom meeting can request a link by emailing lscroggins@natronacountylibrary.org.) An RN, Kilty Brown is the organization’s Executive Director. Raised in Houston, TX, Brown graduated graduating from the University Of Texas Health Science Center School Of Nursing and then moved to Wyoming to embark on a career in healthcare. Brown may have come to Wyoming for nursing, but she planted roots in Wyoming out of a love of the state. As a nurse, Brown worked across the continuum of healthcare, until she found her passion in hospice and palliative care. As the Executive Director of Central Wyoming Hospice & Transitions, she leads the oldest and largest hospice in Wyoming. Since stepping into this role, she has successfully grown the organization by 50% in three years and doubled the volunteer program. Brown is active in the palliative care community and has presented nationally on utilization of hospice facilities. She gives back to the community through Kiwanis, Meals on Wheels, and the Casper College School of Nursing Advisory Board. Whether she’s backpacking in the Bighorns, skiing the Alps or trekking Everest, Brown loves sharing new adventures with her husband and children. Susan Burk is the Community Liaison for Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions, providing education, outreach, marketing, and media relations for the organization. Burk began her career as a professional actress on stage and television before moving to Wyoming in the early 1990’s with her husband Rich. She is a former broadcast journalist, having worked in Wyoming television and radio for more than two decades as an anchor, reporter, producer, and talk show host. She also spent five years as a Programs Specialist with the Matthew Shepard Foundation. With her role at Central Wyoming Hospice, Burk feels she is able to answer her calling to provide help and comfort to others during some of the most stressful times of their lives, and use her skills to help make sure people know of the help that is available to them. Susan and Rich and have two sons and a houseful of pets.
