Dr. Cooper is a board-certified radiation oncologist specializing in gynecological, pediatric and hematological cancers. He has brought innovative treatments to the people of South Carolina. He has also been instrumental in developing programs for eye plaque brachytherapy for ocular tumors, interstitial brachytherapy for keloids and breath hold treatments for lymphomas of the chest and abdominal radiosurgery. In addition, Dr. Cooper has been involved in clinical trial development and is the principal investigator for a multi-center phase I trial combining Y-90 microsphere therapy with standard chemotherapy for bile duct cancer in the liver., Dr. Cooper is the associate director of the radiation oncology resident training program at MUSC, and enjoys working with residents to both improve the care of his patients and educate future radiation oncologists. He is active in several national scientific and professional organizations including the American Society for Radiation Oncology, the American Society for Clinical Oncology, the American Radium Society, the American Brachytherapy Society, the Southwestern Oncology Group and NRG Oncology.
